Introduction

Hello NextGenUpdate, since it has been a while You must login or register to view this content. was roaming around the PlayStation 4, today he magically surprises us with one of his latest new innovations for next-gen exploitation. What you're about to see in a nutshell is himself loading up a .pkg file (The Last Guardian) on firmware 4.55. Bypassing the .pkg license lock, the game launches itself without any interruptions mitigating its security. It has been one of the most requested entities everyone has been wanting to see and to be honest. It might be coming very soon.

Information - (as of October 14th, 2017)

Today, developer You must login or register to view this content., reputable programmer, posted a video on his YouTube channel today named, "Custom PKG on Retail PS4". He provides a Proof of Concept showing it's possible already, and he's done it. To go more in-depth, he explained that this is:

"A totally different and more bullet-proof method in comparison with the one from 1.76" - flat_z

You can easily port this to other firmware, and shouldn't be too hard to execute. Now, here's the catch. He did confirm he will release a tutorial on how he did it, but you WILL need a Kernel Exploit to do so! Now that is the main issue with this. For the public, you won't be able to do this unless, of course, a developer releases a public kexploit for everyone in the community. This will be mainly for other developers who have fabricated one themselves. This was done via firmware 4.55. Here, you can watch his own personal video showing proof of everything executing correctly!

Custom PKG on retail PS4

Description: "Installation of custom and repacked PKG files on a retail PS4 with a kernel's exploit. A totally different and more bullet-proof method in comparison with the one from 1.76. A write-up on how to achieve this will see the light soon (and again, kernel exploit is needed for that, also porting to other firmware is possible and shouldn't be hard)." - flat_z

He didn't say, but he will be releasing a tutorial on it. I highly doubt he'd release the Kexploit though.
