For several years now companies have been experimenting with new business models in order to outdo competitors though home consoles have yet to fully embrace this new phenomenon.


Out of the “big three” Sony has been striving to get more F2P content on its platforms with games such as Free Realms, DC Universe Online, DUST 514, and a suite of Vita titles leading the charge. With the advent of the PlayStation 4, we can expect to see even more free-to-play experiences, Gaijin Entertainment’s War Thunder being one of them.


Centred around first-person, vehicular combat, War Thunder has replicated dozens of fighter planes, land units, and ships, throwing them into WW2-inspired battlegrounds. Already available on PC (via open beta) the game is set to make its console debut on the PlayStation 4 this holiday season.


Though specific details have yet to surface, Gaijin confirmed that War Thunder will make full use of the PS4′s hardware capabilities as well as its innovative Dualshock 4 controller and social/Cloud features.

Free to play games. Sure free to play, but I can honestly say I have dropped more money on a "Free" to play game than any other game so far. I must have dropped at least 100$ already, and I'm planning to drop another 170$... That being said its for the long term. If you play dust, I'm going to be buying the new merc, elite, and vet packs, get a shit load of boosters, and BPOs. For those who don't play dust, I'm going to drop a lot of money on stuff in game that doesnt run out.

i think thats their plan though, get you hooked into a free game and you will want more and if theres a option to buy things and better ones experience they'll buy, i know i probably would lol well i did for dcuo for the trophies xD

Exactly, and the way they justify it is they tell us "There is nothing you can't buy battle-relevant (weapons, equipment, etc) that you cant buy with in game currency" The problem is, all the weapons, equipment, and etc that we can buy with real money, requires less Skill points to get into.

You do realise they only made free to play games to combat piracy

Lets hope they do the right business model so many free to play games have fallen due to making it pay to win.
