I sat on your nachos
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I was wondering, will the games on ps4 that will also be on ps3 be on the same server? For example, I buy cod5 on gaikai. Could I play with those on ps3?

My guess would be yes! Because, take Activision for example, it would cost them sooo much more money to run a separate server for the PS4 and then another one for the Xbox One. And we all know that Activision are money whore. Also, when the xbox 360 came out you were able to play with people who had the original xbox on halo 2 (correct me if I am wrong, I haven't owned an xbox my friends have tho).

That's what I thought, I highly doubt that companies will really want to run two different servers for separate consoles. If it does work, that would be awesome.

That is a question and half.
Both are running off the same network after all the problem is how much of the new PS4 information can the PS3 see. Can it send invites across the board.
Matchmaking servers are easy to merge together, performance gap between consoles may be the key factor here.
PS4 controller may respond quicker compared to the PS3 one is one example.
Something is telling me I doubt it but with Sony push on cross support with the vita it may happen.
Still have doubts on gaikai, resubmit games is the key worry here. We all know what a mess having PS1 games was on the PSN store. You had to resubmit the game get it tested fix any bugs, question is are we going to see the PS4 have the same system. Or are all games resubmit which was on PS3 that a big set of games to be retested.

I am almost positive that it will work, the ps3 is still very widespread, and the ps4 will take some time to catch up, so the only way for Sony to make its people happy is to allow this, and not to mention the PlayStations both use psn, so they are going to be interconnected, the same as the call of duty and other games, they want to make money, and to do that, connecting the systems is the only option.

Do a barrel roll!
I thought I had seen an article that said PS3 and PS4 could not cross-play, but I'm still holding out hope that I am wrong.
