I expect that it'll live on for a few more years, until PS4 price drops, then the PS3 will eventually die out.
Major games will continue to be made for it, but will quickly die off, until the only games being made for it, are sports games from EA.
Then just like the PS2, the PS3 will eventually fizzle out and die.

Its not like, come 29th November, the ps3 will literally be forgotten, because no that isnt the case! Many people cannot afford the PS4, alot of my friends cant, but i can 
So they will be forced to stick to the PS3, until they have enough money to get the PS4 but as christmas is a month after release, most will get it then so for another month the PS3 will be popular. Yes in years to come the PS4 will get marked down more and lots more people will be able to afford it and eventually they will forget the ps3, but i still play my PS2 now, well i did until last month when the controller snapped in half. So ive had my PS2 since the year after it was released and i still went back to it, all this time until this year i cannot further more play it. So i did sell it but see, years on you will go back to the previous console, it reminded me how lucky we are with the graphics, online etc.. But on topic the PS3 won't die out for another 3/4 years maybe longer but come the PS5(?) it will die out fast.

Nothing will really happen. There won't be any jailbreaks it cuz of there super strong encryption. And it will receive regular updates for about a couple years then it will be like $100-$150 in that price range then Sony will eventually stop caring for it like the other playstation consoles. So yea. Here's what expect in the next 2-4 years...
