(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); here’s no doubt that the PlayStation 4 is hot right now. Really hot. It’s been selling out of pre-orders everywhere, even outselling the Xbox One 2-1 at GameStop and Amazon.

We’ve previously heard that Sony and retailers expect PlayStation 4 shortages at launch, and now GameStop has revealed just how big the demand is.

According to Sony Computer Entertainment America CEO Jack Tretton in a recent interview, GameStop wants every singe PlayStation 4 console that Sony can manufacture. That’s how high the demand is.

While Sony of course won’t sell everyone unit to GameStop (the other retailers need some too), it shows just how much in demand the PlayStation 4 is. While hardcore gamers have known since E3 that the PlayStation 4 has the clear advantage over the Xbox One, the average gamer is now waking up to that fact as well.

The surge in demand for the PlayStation 4 has even surprised Sony, who revised their internal sales forecast for the console after E3.

Earlier today, we reported that analyst Michael Pachter believes that Sony will actually make a profit on each PlayStation 4 console sold. About $25 per console. Which is quite good, considering they lost about $300 on each PS3 console they sold back in 2006.
