(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Up until very recently, Sub accounts would always be sub accounts with no way of becoming a master account, even if you reached the age of 18.

In a article on You must login or register to view this content., it covers a lot of things to do with next gen and PSN.

"Good news for those of you who created a PlayStation Network account while under the age of 18: Until now, you've been burdened with a "Sub Account," created under a so-called "Master Account." Sub Accounts could only use the payment options associated with the Master Account and, despite the inevitable forward progress of time, and the knowledge that nearly 100% of underage users who signed up for Sub Accounts would one day become adults and capable of managing their own purchases, Sony wouldn't allow users to convert accounts.

PSN 'SUB ACCOUNTS' ARE GROWING UP

"Once a sub account is created, it cannot be changed to a master account even if the account holder becomes older than 18 years old," Sony's support page still says today.

Sony product manager Chris Thielbar told us that today that Sub Accounts can be converted to Master Accounts. When asked when this feature was added to the PlayStation Network, Thielbar replied, "Very recently." And that process isn't limited to PSN accounts on PlayStation 4; PlayStation 3 users who've turned 18 in the seven years since the PS3's launch should be able to convert their Sub Accounts to Master Accounts."

Now this is very good news to anyone with a sub account, they will tell you why!

They said they can't ever change the system just like our online id's but now they say this!

Maybe we have a bit more chance of getting the option to change our online id's!

Online names will have spaces yes, online id's will remain the same underscores and hyphens.
