On July 2, 2012
shortly after rumors on the Internet started to appear,
Sony Computer Entertainment announced that
it had reached an agreement to acquire the cloud-based service for $380 million USD.
In October 2012,
Gaikai launched their revamped website
teasing top PlayStation branded titles including God of War,
Infamous and LittleBigPlanet among other titles.
On February 20, 2013,
Gaikai announced that PlayStation, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation 3 titles
would be made available for Sony's upcoming PlayStation 4 console
via a new cloud gaming service.
Sony announced during E3 2013
that Gaikai won't be available until 2014,
Currently, Gaikai will support streaming of games to the PS4, PlayStation Vita and PS Vita TV.
Yoshida stated in an interview with Dengeki Online about Gaikai,
"So we're considering various things like PC, TVs, Blu-ray players, smartphones, and tablets."
