Post: Strict NAT on COD Ghosts on PS4?
11-22-2013, 01:26 AM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I know this has to do with COSad Awesome Ghosts but it pertains to the PS4 so I'm going to go ahead and post it here.

Basically I'm wondering if anyone else is having this problem. Ever since I got ghosts for the PS4 when I play online it says my NAT is strict. However, on the PS3 it was always moderate.

I have tried resetting my router and that doesn't work. Anyone have any ideas?

Strict and Moderate is like Potato Potatoes, can't even say it lol. Remember to set up your PS4 on the dmz IP or it won't work.
This should work, so if it doesn't call your ISP maybe they got to do something.

I never had a problem with old cods, but on this one on ps3, depending on who turns there ps3 on 1st out of me and my brother will be open the other strict, I've tried dmz static etc, still no fix,

Sometimes if I'm on and my brother comes on my servers will drop and I need to reset the internet on the ps to get past the server message,

Every other cod was fine we were always open

Definitely makes me think it's something with the PS4's connection.

well having your ps4 in dmz and upnp on is going to give your ps4 the best connection regardless if its strict, as every port will be open to it. dont bother opening any others so remove them. then set it up on your console making sure you put the same ip address as the dmz ip. best to have your ps4 off while you do that setting on your router once all saved restart the router to make any changes take effect properly, then set your ps4 up this should put your ps4 outside of any firewalls.

Ignore the download speed, it dropped at the last second. Normally get about 8 down.

Your ping seems to be a lot higher and since you are using DSL, you might get strict nat type for all games on playstation.

I know what your issue is, you have a Double NAT. I don't want to tell you FOR SURE that you have it, but I have had the EXACT same problems that you have had. I tried forwarding ports, I tried putting my machine on a DMZ, I tried all that jazz and nothing worked. The solution (that worked for me) was to place my router in bridged mode.

In order to do this, please realize the following:

1) You know how you can access your Router through typing in 192.168.1.1 or whatever into your address bar in your internet browser? That will no longer being able to be done since you are now effectively cutting ties with your router and letting your modem do NAT instead.

2) With the above being said, you WILL ALWAYS be able to revert back to the default settings that you had before by resetting your router with the little button on it. You will also loose one of the ports on your router, since instead of plugging it into the WAN port, you will now be plugging it into the LAN port.

So to get started:

1) Open up your router page by going to 192.168.0.1 or whatever your internal IP address is.
2) Ensure that you have configured all of the router settings to your liking. (ie. Making sure that your wireless is secured if you want it to be, and make sure that you have UPNP on etc.)
3) Once you are happy with ALL of the settings that you have on your router, you are going to have to navigate to the area where you see a tickbox for "DHCP". YOU ARE GOING TO WANT TO "DISABLE" DHCP (Something like what I am showing you in the picture)
You must login or register to view this content.
4) After you have done this, you are going to go and save settings.
5) After your router has fully restarted, take your MODEM and DISCONNECT it from the WAN port on your ROUTER. Connect your MODEM to the LAN port on your ROUTER instead.

What you have done is essentially allow yourself to connect directly to the modem while still allowing you to have the exact same wireless settings. Please note there's no guarantee that this will work, but it did for me and you sound like you are having the exact same problem that I have had in the past. I take no responsibility if something goes wrong tears

I recommend turning UPNP off on your ps3 as it also opens ports and can conflict with your DMZ. All you need is DMZ set up correctly and you should be good, also disable any firewall in your router as this will give you a moderate or strict nat. If you are getting high ping then you can alter your MTU settings on the router and ps3.

Thanks for all the responses guys! I actually got the DMZ to work after I changed the DNS addresses. I went from Strict to Moderate so I can deal with that! Smile

Smile Are you using open DNS or did you use benchmark to determine your best local DNS servers. Also look in your router for any firewall settings and disable them, they are not needed as your devices will have their own security and the PS3 will be fine. This will drop you from moderate to open im sure. If you want look at my ps3 guide and use it for your PS4 it should be roughly the same. GUIDE- You must login or register to view this content.
