(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); On the latest episode of the PlayStation Blogcast, Sony boss Jack Tretton denied rumors that Sony caused an artificial PlayStation 4 shortage.

The president and CEO of Sony America denounced the idea of withholding units, saying the holidays are the prime time for sales.

“You have competition out there,” Tretton said. “There are lots of things that people can spend money on, especially during the holidays; and the holidays only come around once a year, so that’s really when you want to take advantage of the market opportunity...It breaks my heart if somebody's got $400 in their hand and they want one and we can't sell them one."

Tretton said it took months to accumulate the first million units it sold. When Sony had 12,000 extra units to give to Amazon, they sold out in 27 minutes. Additional PS4 units will be made available before the holiday season is over.

To be clear, in September, Sony did say it would hold back units to combat shortage over the holidays.

can't blame sony for the shortage, they invented the most powerful and popular console in history, they better start hiring more japanese students.

ya sony is still the better one as best buy got new stock of ps4 and xbone for online shipping and ps4 sold out fast yesterday and xbone is still taking orders haha

and friend of mine who works in argos, said they got a shipment of 1000 in there argos, sold all within half hour

my local best buy still has the x1 in stock.

They're around, just hard to find at the moment.
