Uh, if you have the disk then why the hell would you being using the service for that game to begin with? As it is with ps1 and ps2 games, hell ps3 and psp, there isn't any real way of saying that you infact own the game since there are really no such things as CD keys.

I mean offer retail disc versions to go in the store for free on the platform Smile
No extra costs for putting it in the store as a download meaning higher profits for the IP owners.

Yea thats kinda just a bad idea. So what do you do when the service goes down? I mean you did have a physical copy originally.

Not talking about users being given a free download for having the disc, that would be nice but won't happen.
I mean it's coming out on PS4, instead of the devs having to pay a fee to put it in the store. The cost of adding it is zero due to being released on disc a copy is uploaded to PSN for no extra cost.
Meaning all retails titles can be found on the PSN store over the system we have now they have to request it and pay a small fee.
This means all PS4 titles can be found in the store and added to playstation NOW. Opens up the door allowing the content to be accessed on the PS5 with a small bit of income going to the devs if users pay.

Service going down is one worry for this service your game play back stops dead.

Ok maybe I am no understanding you correctly.

You are saying that you pay for the game once. Then pay the fee to stream it online? Not entirely sure where you are going with what you said or maybe its how you are saying it that is confusing me.

No matter how the content is being delivered its never going to be at no cost to the publisher. Dev's never pay a dime to sony unless they are an indie company, thats what the publisher is there for.

Publishers pay a fee to Sony for retail releases, if you want it sent to the PSN store to pay even more money on top. Along with a constant fee to Sony based on your downloads. That's how the current system works.

I would like to see publisher pay a fee to Sony for retail releases which include a PSN release without any extra costs. Sony can carry on charging per download.

This would mean that it far more likely to appear on playstation NOW as a result.
Of course the publisher would need to work out the terms for the service, but you remove one less road block. Given how the content is already on the PSN store has been tested you adding it to playstation now would take hours over weeks.
