In an interview with CVG, John Koller explained that users who already own copies of their games in a physical form on PS3 or older platforms will not be able to get a digital copy of their game for free. At least not yet they won’t.
When asked if owners will simply have to put a PS3 disc into the PS4, Koller said, “We… uh, initially, no. So, we’re saying no to that right now.” CVG went a step further and asked if this was even a feature Sony was looking into. Koller responded with a resounding “no”.
It’ll be interesting to see if Sony offers some sort of discount for games you already own or if there’s just a one time subscription fee to access the games in the library like OnLive did with it’s Playpack.

I never normally hold onto my games but this has made even more sense to trade the old gen stuff in for new gen things.

so you spend all this money on games for the PS3 now you have to rebuy them all? I can see what you mean tho but they won't be cheap so why should we?

You're right they might do something for ps3 games because they can know u own them from your PSN profile also ps3 games disc the same as ps4 bluray but older consoles I don't think they will do anything about them
I might buy/rent ps1 or ps2 games again in this serves but I won't buy/rent ps3 games again to play them on ps4

It's a different service to a digital game, ps now is streamed to a server a digital game is stored on your local hard drive, plus the bc on the ps4 was intentionally gimped so that people would cough up and pay for ps now, sony did the same for the mp3 playback, they locked it out so you will cough up and pay for music unlimited, if nintendo can provide bc for free, why can't sony? Think about that.
