PS4 Power Pack and Intercooler Up for Pre-Order, Promise 2x Battery Life for the DS4 and a Cooler PS4

Back at GDC Nyko Announced the latest of its Power Pak series, dedicated to the PS4, but didn’t give a release date. Those interested in extending the battery life of their DualShock 4 controller will be happy to know that it’s now available for pre-order, and will be released on May 26th.

You can find it on You must login or register to view this content. or You must login or register to view this content. for $19.99.

In addition to the Power Pak, Nyko is also releasing an Intercooler for Sony’s new console, and that has just been made available for pre-order at You must login or register to view this content. as well for $24.99 (it doesn’t seem to be available on Amazon yet).

The PowerPak is basically a pretty lightweight auxiliary 1000 mAh auxiliary battery (like the original one of the DualShock 4) that will fit snugly to the back of your DualShock 4 controller without any dismantling required. Due to its small size and shape it’s compatible with Nyko’s own charging station and according to the manufacturer it’ll double the battery life of the controller.

The Intercooler clips to the back of the PS4 and turns on and off with it thanks to Nyko’s patented “Power Pass-through” tech. It can be used in both vertical and horizontal positions and promises to help keeping your PS4 cool by pushing hot air away from it.
If you’re one of those that don’t like to be tethered to the USB cable during long play sessions or you’re worried about heat, these may just be the accessories that will save you some worries.

The cooler would be nice I guess, but the battery pack (for me at least) seems useless, I sit so close to my ps4 and tv as it is lol.

I will buy that cooler since my PS4 is under the desk and it causes massive heat under there :(

Lol I have a really nice PC chair which I sit in, with my TV, PC and everything else along my desk :p So I guess I sit pretty close to it. Might as well be on charge haha.

I might buy the cooler as I had one for my Xbox 360 (white one) and it worked pretty well indeed! I build myself a shelving unit of sorts which has me surround sound blu ray player, PS4 and headset amp all on it in different levels. Has slots on all sides and shelfs to let as much air out as it can Smile

i never see the point in these extra fans, when they tested the ps3 ones it actually blocked a decent airflow, the best way to prolong life of a console is to open a window and the door to the room and allow air circulation, will stop the dust build up too.
