(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The game was developed by Zombie Studios. If you think about *Saw* (the game) is a copy/paste from Silent Hill 5. It’s almost the same, only difference are those sh1@$ controllers and those damn traps.
But that not the point of this.
Sony decided to show to their loyal costumers what their entertainment systems are capable of and they failed. At least from my honest point of view.
Sony also showed by doing this that they are *OK* with PC gaming community as well, encouraging indie devs to take a step forward.

Not a minor detail that *Daylight* is available for PS4 and PC, but not Xb0x-1. Wonder why…

To show what’s this *War* about, i will post some quotes from other articles written early this year:

It’ll be the studio’s first psychological horror game and it will be one of first few games using Unreal Engine 4.
Will it deliver in the visual department and run at 1080p resolution and 60 FPS on the PlayStation 4?.
As for whether Daylight will ever release for the Xbox One under the ID@Xbox banner – especially since indie games under the programme will begin rolling out in March – Gerritzen says, “Currently we have no plans to put Daylight onto platforms other than PlayStation 4 and the PC.”

Needless to say, thing is about running the game smooth at 1080p and 60 FPS. Countless times we discussed that over here.
But when that happens, they lost track even with a studio like Zombie about the game plot. Just to focus in mechanics and showing some *raw* potential of the first UT4 title for Sony’s next-gen console.
After all, high-end hardware is there for you to get, but at the end of the day. What really matters is which kind of Engine the game is currently using, if is polished enough.

Eyecandy vs gameplay: Neverending battle

Daylight doesn’t fail to deliver with the visual deparment, but fails to increase attention span and connect with the player.
Which is the key to success at something, we saw ton of games that lack of awesome visuals and still those manage to give the player, something good (even addictive) and some unforgettable experience.
What’s the point of making a game just focusing only on visual *stimuli*, when you have almost no background history?.
As you progress in daylight, you will notice that lack of interest or dedication, that’s a common issue in todays game industry.

That stupid pressure that game devs or game studios have, about making the game look nicer instead of making it enjoy to play. That factor is ruining everything.
Personally, i don’t care if the game is running at 60FPS and 1080P. When in many similar titles of this genre, they use the same ol’ trick = Mindfu$@!/Jumpscares/WTF situations.
Maybe i get used to it by playing way too much horror indie games or is only my impression over this.

For example: Batman Arkham Knight. Decided to stick to UT3 (a heavily modified version of it, improved) and guess what?. Something you already know probably.

As you read the game will get released on Xb0x-1 as well. So i’m the only one which happens to be confused as fu$@ over here?.
If they can use an *old* U3 engine which is heavily modified, showing some awesome graphics and probably same or better gameplay than the older ones, then why not use instead U4 engine?.
Clearly Rocksteady studios, doesn’t need that.
Neither do i, as a consumer if the game keeps repeating the same formula all over again.

So what they wanted to achieve with Daylight?:

Just show consumers that *desktop pcs* are at the same level as a next-gen console. Specially a PS4. Nothing more.
By using UT4 engine, they probably thought that was a good strategy to lure future indie game devs to resume their own project or start new ones.
Was it wise to make a *demo* of less than 45 minutes to show you *how scary* things looks with UT4 engine?.
Yes, but like i said above they failed to connect with the player.

I didn’t *feel* in any way connected to the story, because to be honest. The game itself has no story to tell.
Maybe the idea was to keep it simple to catch a glimpse of what’s to come.
But again my logical thought, struggles as game industry try EVERY trick in their books. Just to justify those fu@!$ 60FPS with those god forsaken 1080p.
