While that sounds like good news the reality is the Sony entertainment is down in financial gain In 2013 they lost 1.2 Billion dollars And 2014 does not look to good either Said "Kaz".

used wrong words was thinking one thing said another , point being they still have to provide service to millions more ppl that even if they had the bandwidth to allow traffic to pass through who's gonna let them use their lines ? comcast ? no they will have issues getting their service to you if comcast isnt making money on it why would they want to direct you to sony's servers it wont be long until this whole cloud hits the shit fan and isp's start demanding money for it

it would like ie netflix install it on any device and pay for a monthly service to the games library of your choice ie microsoft {xbox,xbox360,xbox one} nintendo {to many to name} sega {to many to name} sony {psp,psvita,ps1,ps2,ps3,ps4}

why? they said there selling it for 399 and the PS4 costs $381 to make. so upping 25 more wont make much of a differences.

they also siad the only way they will make money is if ppl buy the system/cam/game/plus so if everyone did this then sony will be fine but not everyone wants to buy the cam

there alot more then just two parts of sony any way ...the ps4 is the only part of sony thats making money at the min ...tv's blu ray players pc's etc etc ..are all down in sales lg and samsung have took over sony in sales of tvs blu rays pc's etc etc

OK, first of all releasing new consoles in a time where a lot of people aren't doing well financially isn't the smartest move. Despite the supposed "recovery" lot's of places in Europe are dealing with mass unemployment and in particular in the younger age groups who are more inclined to buy consoles (university aged, 20-30's etc). It's a bit hard to buy the latest console or handheld if you afford to eat or pay rent or even move away from home.

I think it's also more than that, years ago gaming was a geek thing and then last gen gaming became more mainstream and became a more cost effective entertainment choice than say going to the cinema. The Wii opened up gaming to a casual market and why the Wii was so popular. Now that casual market has moved on to even more casual games (mobile or ios or android).

Handhelds like the vita and 3DS also came out during this economic crisis, however the 3DS offered something the vita didn't (backwards compatibility). Upon the 3DS release there was a massive back catalogue of games whereas the vita didn't. The 3DS also secured certain software that didn't help vita sales (Monster Hunter made the PSP in Japan). The vita is still lacking software, but what could have helped the vita is allowing people to download games they had UMD's of. This I think hurt the vita as the vita can play certain PSP and Psone titles, yet how many times does Sony expect people to buy the same software over and over again.

Sony hurt themselves with the PS3, they were hemorrhaging money with every PS3 they sold in the early days. I don't think they ever really recovered from that. I guess favours called in to insure Blu-ray won out over HD drive (useless xbox thing I have) may have cost them more in the long run. Selling buildings for billions, selling off their computer Vaio (is that the name?) and selling off the stock they had in Square-Enix may be cutting the chaff but it obviously isn't helping.

I honestly don't think there will be a Playstation 5 or an xbox two or whatever for the next generation. Casual gaming may have given Nintendo the funds to cling by their teeth to the wii-u and of course the 3DS pretty much carries them. I think mobile, android apple crap micro-transaction casual games is where its heading. The game heads will move to PC or back to PC and consoles like Playstation and Xbox will go the way of LP's, cassettes, CRT telly's, Scart cables and even CD's. I hope I'm wrong though

dude netflix already has to pay for bandwidth from isp's idk how i can explain that anymore to you and thats a movie , maybe a gb or two then think of a game ? it would be easier downloading it why ? well the fact you have to send data for whats being rendered every frame lets add in the latency your getting now cause comcast doesnt like wasting their bandwidth on psn now guess what you just died in your game. Oh yea cloud gaming is gonna be a thing of the future maybe in 10-20 years

it would be the same as getting a game from xbl store or psn store ..just download it to a device of your choice and play no streaming ..when i said netfilix i just ment as an app which can be install on every device going
