Remember how we always end up waiting and waiting for the next Gran Turismo game to release and it turns up years late? Well, it looks as though we might be entering that cycle once again with Gran Turismo 7.
In late November last year, Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi confirmed that work on Gran Turismo 7 had already begun for release on PS4 and that gamers would get it in 2014. 7 months on and Yamauchi has stated that he no longer thinks the game will make it to store shelves this year. And if you are hoping for a Prologue edition to tide you over, forget it, Polyphony isn’t making one.
All Yamauchi has said about the next game is that the audio will be improved, the standard cars will be included, and that some of them will be made into premium editions. And by default, everyone expects the visuals to have a major upgrade due to the shift to new, more powerful hardware.
We should all expect these delays from Polyphony by now, but it’s still frustrating when you have new hardware begging to run a 1080p, 60fps version of the game. Yamauchi is all about perfection, though, so when the game does eventually arrive it’s probably going to be worth the wait.
