Walmart initially refused to issue a refund, saying it had no proof he didn't box up the rocks himself

A man in Denver thought he bought a PlayStation 4 for his niece for Christmas. When he opened the box, he found not a console but two wrapped-up bundles of rocks.

Buying a next-gen PlayStation 4 console for his 13 year old niece turned into a Christmas Morning day nightmare, when the happy girl unwrapped her gift, all she got was a nasty box full of rocks, and when the buyer tried to return the 'PS4 Rocks' to his local Walmart, they sent him packing without a refund, and then local TV Stations got hold of the story, and it finally all worked out for the family.

About the only thing the box of rocks that Igor Baksht bought had in common with a PS4 is that neither could connect to PlayStation Network on Christmas Day. Baksht said he discovered the rocks when he opened the box before wrapping it as a gift.

Denver's KMGH-TV got the story, and it has a (sort of) happy ending. Walmart initially refused to refund the purchase, saying it had no proof Baksht didn't box up the rocks himself. After KMGH's story aired, though, they gave him his money back.

The TV station notes it was skeptical of Baksht's claim but acknowledges that others have fallen victim to similar types of scams.

For his part, Baksht said the clerk who brought out the box also noted that it was very heavy.

So at least it now has a happy ending, and even better news is that PSN is finally back online after an almost 4-day outage, so the next-gen gaming girl can now finally enjoy her new PS4 console, but do you have any similar 'gaming nightmare' stories to share?
