I just purchased my PS4 about two weeks ago, I used it for four days no problem. On the fifth day I came home and attempted to turn the PS4 on, it beeped, flashed blue, then shut off. No matter what I tried this happened. So I contact Sony and they stated the power supply was bad and I needed to send it back. They told me they would send me a box to send it back in, I agreed. I went around and looked at the forums, a lot of people had tutorials on how to fix the Power Supply yourself (replacing it). But one guy stated "Just bash it on your knee and it might work again.". I did several times just for shit's and giggles. Plugged in it in and it worked, it's been working flawlessly for over a week now.
I still have the box they sent me. Would you send it back or would you wait to see if this ever happens again to file another service request? I just bought it, so I still have a one year factory warranty.
Agreed with Slick. Hitting it could just damage it more and who knows, some companies won't replace/refund a device that's been damaged by user and not accident.
