Other comments: I became abit suspicious when no admin had verified the lobby and when he had no responded for a day or two. He had a good rep so i thought he was legit.

As you said this is most likely your fault for not stating they were AUS codes.
This is what I believe has happened as another member also experienced the same thing.
If you haven't already used the codes I suggest you do incase one of them creates an AUS psn and uses the codes.
Either way the accused is not at fault for this.
