you don't need an elite to get a free data cable...call 1-800-4MY-XBOX an just tell them that you have a 20 gig hd an you are getting a new 60 gig an you want to transfer your data over. I did that a few days ago and they are sending me one in the mail. I have a basic 360

I would just call them up an tell them that you got a bigger hard drive...an see if there is anyway you could get one from them. What is the worst they can say...no...then you are no worse off then you are now. I would at least try calling them and asking them to send you one and if they can't or won't then you can go back to trying to get the Elite serial number like you are right now.
