Okay, everything in the spoiler is copy pasta from se7 and a guy called zznathaii should be given credit... I dont normaly repost things like this but had a customer come to me today desperate to play after he had updated his console and didnt have his DVD key so this came in VERY handy as JF 1.67 didnt find the key either! for me the key was located at E040 (that will make sense once you have read the tut, and luckily he did have a benq but i would be interested to know anybody elses experiences?)
so yea... here you go
hey guys.
As you know by now there has been a recent update which has caused alot of panic about when will we recieve the new LT+2.0 firmware and so on.
personally i reflashed my dvd drive to stock to do the update so i can go online without hassle and keep playing my legit games while experts sort the firmware out so just sit tight and it will be here soon.
if you have managed to do the update without keeping a copy of your dump or dvd key then you might want to know that jungle flasher does not read your dvd key when you have made a firmware dump after the update, so if you were panicing about how will you re-flash your drive without your dvd key dont worry because there is an ultra easy way to get it back after the update.
(i have only tested this for the benq drive but should work fine with other drives too.)
1.Firstly you will need to dump your updated firmware i would recommend using DOSflash.
You must login or register to view this content.
2.Secondly once you have succesfully dumped your updated firmware, open it up in jungle flasher and you will see that your dvd key comes up with all zeros. (you can skip this step as its just to show you that jungle flasher will not provide the dvd key)

3. you will need to download a Hex editor here is a You must login or register to view this content.
Once that is downloaded open the program and go to file>open and open up the updated firmware that you have just dumped.
Now click the "Go to" tool which is in the toolbar.
You must login or register to view this content.
Now in the search bar you will type the location of the dvd key which is different and different on different dvd drives :
for benq type it will be one of these locations:
E030 - usually this one
E040 - or this one as its right underneath
B030
type the location in the search box and press ok.
it will be in one of them, once found you will get this...

that is your dvd key. *important that you make a copy of this as this is vital for reflashing your xbox, copy and paste into notepad or something just dont loose it.
as of now i dont know specific locations for other drives but i will try to update this when i find them.
i hope this guides people towards finding there dvd key
i know this is not an in depth tut but should help people along the way to finding the dvd key.
any mistakes or invalid links let me know.
thanks.
