Some other places I found random MS point oppurunities were on the dashboard.

If you watch some of the ads and/or promo vids there can sometimes be a text number at the end you text to, the most recent was something like whale wars on discovery channel, there was a video on the dashboard and at the end you text to a # for free and have a chance at 400 MS points.

Also, in the game Quantum of Solace (I haven't seen this in any other 360 games), there are ads on some of the walls on some maps. One of them was a McDonalds ad with a # you text to on the bottom of it for a chance to win 400 MS points.

When I texted these, I received a confirmation making it legit. But never got notified if I won, lol.
