Xbox doesn't give them out free at all anymore, no matter what you say, so eBay or Amazon is probally your best bet.

-To the other people, Unless you have/know someone with a JTag xbox you can't do the 10th prestige hack or have supersprint/jump etc.

tbh, getting one from the xbox help line is difficult now, as so many people have been doing it. They may tell you that they are running out of stock, and it probably isnt far from the truth with all these skids running around calling up and asking for the same thing.

As for what they can do?

Its necessary for most transfers. Remember, your xbox is nothing but a PC with a snow leapord lock type interface, meaning its only been programmed to run a single interface. But, you can change that

Yep. You can run linux on it, with the JTAG.

You'll need a linux based game to use it though.

Try finding an old copy of 007 agent under fire game. It had linux based servers, so you can use it as a startup on your xbox. Then linux should prompt if you want to boot linux normally, and you hit yes.
