Post: 2 broken xboxes, what to do?

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I have 2 360s. One turns on, but can't read game disks. The other 360 overheated one day and will not turn on, but it read games perfect. i was wondering if it is possible to switch dvd drives between the boxes, or do i have to resort to buying a new xbox?

Always Faithful
Do either of the xbox's have the M'soft seal still intact? If so it would be better to call 1-800-4MY-XBOX and have them ship you a box to ship the xbox(s) for repair because you get free XBL Gold subscriptions usually a month my friend got a year and sometimes you get a free games or M'soft points.

if ones reads discs and the other doesn't and the one that read discs does not overheat I would imagine you could just swap the drives no problem all you do is unplug two little wires and plug them into the other xbox's motherboard and piece it back together but just incase sth does go wrong I recommend using a hair dryer or heat gun for paint to very very very very lightly heat up the M'soft seal when you take the case apart and use a razor blade to carefully peel it away and stick it to sth without bending it so if sth happens you just put the seal back and can still send it in, thats what I did.

Just look up some tutorials on opening the 360 it's very easy you just need a small nail for the gray baking plates and a tweasers or sth similar for the clips and you'll need a torx screw driver set with size 10 to open the internal cover. If you use a hair dryer you can carefully peel away the DVD-Drive aluminum seal so you don't break that seal either just thought I'd throw that in but I broke mine and I still got a new 360.

I wouldn't bother with those red light fix kits with the washers and thermal paste and shit on ebay they don't work for long just about as good as that towel shit people were using you'll go through all that trouble and risk damaging the 360 further just for it to still not work I've done it dozens of times and still had to send it in.
