Post: What can I do?

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Well I just figured out my brother got his account hacked by some guy on MW2 for Xbox 360 because he has a high pitched voice. So now he lost his Xbox 360 live account (in which he just renewed 3200 MP and a gold membership). All of this on his Birthday. I called Microsoft and had to wait hours to get someone. I'm currently talking to them but I was wondering if there's anything I can do to find this hacker and give him a peace of my mind. Along with a ban notice and a bill for the cost and damages. Sorry about this rant. But I'm really pissed at this. My brother already said he's going PS3 and I don't blame him (DO NOT START A FLAME WAR PLEASE).

Thanks,

First off, You want to be absolutley sure that he was hacked. And if he was hacked, you need proof to show Microsoft. If you can get the hackers Gamertag, i would give that to Microsoft so that they can track what he does. If Microsoft do find details that the account was hacked, and can make sure it was not your Brother who bought the MSP and Membership, i would imagine that Microsoft would refund him.

But i think they would ban the Hyjacked Account anyway, so a new one would have to be made. Just what i think. Happy

Sort the problem out with microsoft yourself, telling others isn't going to help you...

Well they said that they're doing a week long investigation into the situation and if all goes well we'll get a full refund. But, if they can't catch him, well we'll get a new gold membership but no MS points.

Simran, I was just exploring all options, I'm on PS3 and I've never really delt with someone hacking my account before. Just wanted to see if there was a way to recover the account (which I learned later that it was impossible because the entire profile was wiped from my bros harddrive)

Hacking is a mostly psychological thing. In all honesty, your brother must have done something he shouldn't have, like told his password to someone or entered a rotten lobby.

People who say they'll hack your account over Xbox LIVE 95% of the time don't even know the first steps to getting someone else's account.

I'm not saying you're a liar, but your brother might of accidentally left his info out in the open.

Most I can say is give MS every single thing you can to validate your brother as the owner.
