Post: I just got to play on Kinect!

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I Just tried out Kinect on a n xbox 360 slim,

it was being demoed in Argos store near where I live, i went in to buy Castlevania so got to try it out.

I played the game, where you are in an inflatable raft going down some rapids.

and it sucked.

it was unresponsive, to the state where it missed a lot of my movements, and the movements it did recognise were delayed by about half a second.

all you had to do was step left or right, to adjust your weight on the raft, which was supposed to turn it, and jump.

I finished the level, but i didn't get too many of the stars.

I found you have to move about half a second before you actually need to, or your character slams in the walls.

I asked the MS guy that was representing it, if it was working properly, and he said, it wasn't detecting my movements that accurately because I am too tall. I am only 6 foot tall, so bigger people could have problems. That could of been because I was quite close to it, it was in a small roped area of the store so I was only about 1 metre away from it.

The Kinetic itself was on a table, with a TV and it was at the bottom of the TV so was at about waist height, which could explain why it wasn't tracking me properly.

Over all, it was a laggier shinier version of an eyetoy. The graphics were obviously quite good, but it just wasn't responsive enough to make it that fun, if it was a game that required more actions, it would of really struggled today.

the REP said they are demonstrating it in a lot of Argos stores in the UK, so if you are near one, check it out and you might get to play it yourself.

1 metre back is far too close, especially for someone tall. No way can Kinect see your whole body from that distance. Like the Move, it is recommended you stand 6-8 feet back, so you're at least twice as close as you should have been, and this will obviously have a massive effect on how the game plays given that it needs to see your whole body. It's a shame that they're demonstrating it in this state.

Who cares about Kinect....yeah obviously you need to be far away to play it just like the Wii and PS3 move. Its cool they came out with something like this but its useless to me and for $150 USD its really not worth it.
