Microsoft Announce 30 Million Xbox LIVE Subscribers
At the Microsoft CES Press Conference this morning, Microsoft announced that the online gaming and social network for Xbox 360, PC and Windows Phone 7 has now surpassed thirty million subscribers. Since its launch back in November 2002, Xbox LIVE has been made available in thirty-five countries and across four different formats.
According to the report, a new Xbox LIVE member registers on average every two seconds. This statement was not quantified, though it’s likely the figure includes all kinds of membership, be it paid or free, and registered through Xbox 360, PC or Windows Phone 7. Regardless, the figure is undoubtedly another welcome milestone for the world’s premier online gaming network. Microsoft: 50 million Xbox 360s sold worldwide
Microsoft released an interesting statistic during their CES keynote this evening. Aside from revealing that Kinect has sold over 8 million units worldwide, Microsoft also shared that the Xbox 360 has reached a sales milestone.
Microsoft's Steve Ballmer announced that the Xbox 360 has sold over 50 million units worldwide since the system launched in 2005. With the Xbox 360 having strong sales in North America throughout 2010, the system continues to move into the future with a strong base. The system may be five years old, but the sales don't indicate that things will be slowing down any time soon.

Kinect Sells 8 Million Units in 60 days
Microsoft has confirmed that Kinect for Xbox 360 has sold 8 million Units worldwide in the 60 days immediately following its November launch at their CES 2011 Press Conference. Steve Ballmer made the announcement on stage after revealing Avatar Kinect, a Playstation Home-like service that allows gamers to chat using their Avatars and Kinect.
Microsoft had previously said they were aiming to sell 5 million Kinect units between launch and the end of 2010 as a target; this was upped from a previous, lower target. They smashed that to pieces, as well. Needless to say, that’s impressive.
Steve Ballmer told the crowd at the CES press conference and the thousands watching online that 2010 was an “exciting” year for Microsoft thanks to the launch of products like Kinect. Kinect was also described as part of a Microsoft strategy of taking “big bets” on new technology. He went on to recount the history of Xbox and said that it was now “front and centre” of the social revolution.
Opening CES, Microsoft were quick to laud the successes of Kinect on stage. Kinect launched on November 4th in North America, November 10th in Europe and November 20th in Japan.
