Remember Guys, this is my theory Trying this tutorial is not my responsibility for an damages to your console. READ THIS TUTORIAL CAREFULLY BEFORE TAMPERING WITH YOUR Playstation 3 SYSTEM.

What you Need:

Geohotz 3.55 Firmware (ask for link to be added)
multiMAN Backup manager. (ask for link to be added)
Filezilla (ask for link to be added)
Blackb0x FTP For PS3 (ask for link to be added)

Step1. Install Geohotz CFW
Step2. Locate to your game icon and click on install package files
Step3. Install Blackbox & multiMAN Backup Manager.
Step4. Once installed, Insert GTA IV into your PS3 & open up multiMan's Backup manager
Step5. Accept The agreement and wait till it asks you to navigate your BLUS/BLESS-GAMES-USSDIR-GTA IV (click yes)
Step6. Wait till the GTA Chick ( The one you see when hovering on GTA IV) to load up and click Copy
Step7. You will need to have more then 9GB on your HDD [Optional] You can Use a USB BUT it must have more then 9Gb of space!
Step8. Once installed you will be prompted to a black screen. It will ask you to abort ( MAKE SURE UP THE TOP IT SAYS COMPLETED ) Press the button required Either [] OR /\
Step9. Dont launch the game, instead proceed to your computer and install FILEZILLA l
Step10. [Skip these steps if you know how to use filezilla] \/
-----------------------------------------------------
Once installed filezilla will open and at the semi top left it will say Host: This is YOUR IP Adress which can be accessed from cmd OR Blackb0x (I suggest Blackb0x)
Step11. Skip this step if your not using Blackb0x to get your IP I do highly suggest you use blackb0x as you will need it in the tutorial.
Go back to your PS3 Back to games and click on your games folder ( the ones you downloaded) You will see blackb0x open it up and In red your IP will be there. Type that into the Host bar on filezilla.
Step11. Go back to Filezilla Next to Host will be username, I usually use FTPD1234 Default but you can choose.
Step12. Leave password blank And click on port. Change your port to 21( default PS3 port) & click 21
----------------------------------------
For those who skipped start reading again

Step13. Open up the first folder you see Dev_dvd-PS3_GAME-USSDIR *STOP* HERE
Step14. you will now see common.rpf

This is as far As I have gotten as I cannot find a common.rpf small enough for filezilla to transfer .

EDIT--

The error I'm getting.. Any ideas?
Critical file transfer error
Status: Starting upload of C:\Users\Andre\Documents\common.rpf
Command: PASV
Response: 227 Entering Passive Mode (192,000,0,00,000,000)
Command: STOR common.rpf
Response: 553 Permission error.
Error: Critical file transfer error
Future tutorial will be posted once I have found a Small enough .rpf

Mine's running off the hard drive, I'm playing it as we speak. Also, it's modified... both the common and ps3 files in the game files.

I backed up with multiMAN then used a .pkg 3.55 eboot installer and transferred the USRDIR folder to the custom location on the harddrive. Then I transferred the modded common files etc over. Work's on party mode online but no one can connect to any of your games.

Unless they use EliteMossy's patch blocker. I tested this on my 3.41 ps3 a while back. They must bypass the patch with you!Cool Man (aka Tustin)

i believe so, i tested playing with mods from a backup, on my 3.41 jb When it was able to connect to the psn again. I had a friend delete his patch and bypass using EliteMossy's patch blocker. He could join. On CFW im not sure though because if you have to edit the eboot or anything else to run backups on CFW that might cause it to be nonjoinable.
