Well ive had tons of issues about Scratched rings around my disks.

people say that if you move your xbox while its running a game, it scratches the disk..

yet my xbox is stationary, on a flat surface.

i traded in my xbox and got a new one, but the problem still pertains...

anyone know exactally whats hitting?

they're almost perfect circles,

I get this now and again real bad, but i took my discs to 'GameStation' (UK) and they professionally clean them and get rid of your scratches...it's around £2 per disc and it works wonders.

i think it might be aliens. crop circles? disk circles? common thing. its because your xbox is on a slant or it is bumped or moved. only way unless your disk try is messed up. try getting a new game. and Upload all your games to your HDD and then run them off it.

When I first got my Xbox back from Microsoft after it broke, I put in my game disk and heard a horrible scratching noise, so I took my disc out and there were a bunch of perfectly circular rings on my disc, but it never did it again. Although a lot of people don't recommend moving your Xbox while it is moving or else it will scratch your disc.
