I have just came on my 360 for the first time today and i can sign into XBOX LIVE but when i load up my mw2 it signs me out and i cant sign back in until i go to the dashboard. It tells me to test my connection, so i did and it connects to my router and connects to the internet but when it is test XBOX LIVE it comes up with a RED X. I click on more info when the help box comes up and then it says this:
''Your console can connect to Xbox LIVE, but your router or gateway isn't properly responding to ICMP responces.''
I have tried all i know but none has worked.

The xbox has always worked with this router and it is about 10 cm from my xbox. I have tried to reset my router manually and also re-stored my router to factory settings on my xbox 360 but still no luck. This has never happened before.

You need an open gateway.

Search google for 'how to open my Internet gateway'

We have had the router for about 3-5 months months and we hardly use it really.

Thanks i will give it a go now. I am also on the xbox website and found a section that has a solution. I'm also going to try this out too
