E3 2011 is shaping up to be quite the spectacle this year. With Nintendo confirmed to be showing their next home-console currently codenamed ‘Project Café’ on their June 7th conference, it now seems Microsoft may make some mention of their next home-console on June 6th.
According to a report by UK-based video game website Develop today, Electronic Arts has been provided development kits of the next Xbox system. Housed in a PC shell, a common practice for early dev kits, no information regarding the specs have been leaked at this time, but EA will begin developing the first-wave of software for the upcoming system soon. Develop’s source later details, though didn’t confirm, that a late 2012 release is possible for the system. If that date stays true, then Microsoft and Nintendo will be releasing new hardware in a very close timeframe.

As for E3, Develop’s source says an E3 mention to some degree is possible; however, Eurogamer says that an E3 reveal is “highly unlikely”. From the sound of it, a vague mention of working on new hardware is the most we’ll get out of Microsoft at E3 2011 -- if anything.
