Always wired connection, avoid running Ethernet next to lights and outlets, and as the guy above said set your 360's Ip as the dmz ip.

cant use wired where i am with the xbox in the house, but would connecting the xbox via an ethernet cable to my laptop be any better?

Uhhh I think it would almost be the same thing as wireless.. I'm not sure, I just know that wired is 99.5% better.. the other .5% is because dealing with the wires can be annoying.

Load of crap :/
With ps3 everything was way simpler lol :/
Even with the old xbox and me connecting it to live with my laptop and a enternet cable was way easier and connected to mw2 easily with an open nat i think :/
