You can't cancel it online, you have to call microsoft to cancel it but it will take about 15mins on the phone to get them to cancel it. I had this done with a credit card that was about to expire and guess what? they still charged it on my expired credit card

I never cancelled, I tried calling 5 times and wither it was outside their business hours or they didn't pick up. I upgraded to the family plan, 4 gamertags, $100. Sold 3 gamertags for $25/year each.
