Post: Left 4 Dead 3: No New Engine

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hello good citizens of the Left 4 Dead section...

It has been reported that there is no need for a new engine and the source engine is designed to be tweaked and upgraded from one game to the next.

But what does this mean to me one might ask.

This means games will be able to be released much quicker and have much higher quality due to the upgradability the source engine entails.
Not only that but Valve can make even more $$$.

Yeah, the engine is not overly used. I like it. A fourth would need a new engine though, in my opinion.

I disagree.

Call of Duty 4 was a heavily modified Quake engine, and that game was (and still is) astonishingly clean in terms of both FPS and graphics. Pair that fact with the fact that the Source engine is supposedly much easier to modify and upgrade etc, and IMO there's no reason for a new engine at all :p
