So, I had just searched this up and realized that nobody has posted this before. In slight shock I decided I would gladly share this secret with you all
At one point or another each of us has been wronged by lag while playing over xbox live; my method will help decrease your lag, however it may not COMPLETELY remove it. This process is very very similar to creating a minecraft server because it involves port forwarding. Some modems/routers simply will not allow port forwarding (However most do) and if yours will not allow you to forward a port, you cannot do what I am about to show you.
Anyway, first thing you will want to do is go to your address bar and type 192.168.0.1 like this You must login or register to view this content. . Once you do this hit enter and we can move on to the next step. (The address you have entered will take you to your modem/routers page where you can modify a ton of different settings. If your modem/router requires a password it is usually user:admin pass:admin or user:admin with no password. If neither of those two logins work search for it on google.)
Once you are on your modem/routers configuration page, search for an option titled "Port-Forwarding," here is what mine looks like You must login or register to view this content.
Once you are on the port-forwarding page, you will need to find your xbox's IP address. To find this get on your xbox and go to the my xbox tab. Head all the way to the right and hit the system settings option. Now hit the network settings option. It will ask you whether you want wired or wireless, pick which ever you are using. Now click Configure Network and search for the IP Address.
Once you have your IP address you will want to forward the following ports to it. (BTW. Starting port and ending ports are the same)
88 - UPD
3074 - UPD & TCP
80 - TCP
53 - UPD & TCP

Now what you have done is opened the ports xbox live uses, thus drastically lowering your lag over online gaming.
