Yes it plays DVD-R
But make sure it isn't .Mp4, cos it won't play that.
.Avi works fine.

it'll play both dvd+r and dvd-r , i used to burn and play movies all the time until I got media center and connected my 360 to my pc through my router and streamed the movies. The video file needs to be converted to dvd format though which nero vision (I recommend) does. If you burn a straight .avi it wont work.

ok yea I jut whent for it and it worked before you guys posted, but at times the xbox wont read the disc right away. does that always happen? or is there a way for me to fix that?

That's incorrect. I used to burn .avi direct onto discs all the time, and it would play just fine on the xbox.
I don't burn discs anymore cos I plug in my external harddrive into the xbox and watch it that way. Saves so much time and alot easier.

The Xbox will play burnt DVD Movies, but for it to play burnt Games, then you need a modded Xbox.

yeah u can for some but some dont work i dont know why that is tho

Or u could get a memory stick tra nsfer your films onto that and stick it in usb port them go to dashboard then go to watch movies hope i helped
