Well it's never happened to me, so I am just guessing what might happen to you, so take it with a grain of salt.

First off, they might not even notice if you didn't do anything drastic (like giving yourself 1000 gamerscore on one game), so yay.
If they do take notice, I can't see them banning your Xbox 360 from Live, or even your Gamertag for that matter. The most likely thing I see happening is them reseting your gamerscore to 0 (including your legit achievements, but at that point, I suppose that would be a relief as it's no real punishment).

If you are extremely concerned and no one gets back to you who knows for a fact what happens, what you can do to find out is make a dummy Xbox Account for the time being on Xbox.com (do not sign into this on your Xbox you don't want this account having anything to do with your Xbox). When you've done that, sign in on Xbox.com on it, and contact support via chat. When you have a hold of them, tell them exactly what you are doing (because Xbox Support are reasonable people who aren't outsourced and can actually show emotion). Tell them something like "I just made this account to ask you a question because I didn't want to get my account in trouble finding out the answer. I modded my Gamerscore on my main profile to ____, and I regret doing this, so I was wondering what were the consequences to doing this."

Hopefully this helps Smile

The Low Key OG
still the same OG, but I've been low key
Let me give you the run down:

- your gamerscore will be reset
- you won't be able to re-earn the achievements on those games
- your gamerzone will be changed to cheater
- your account may receive a week ban to your account

Nothing more than that. I started a new account when it happened to me.

I'm going to say the same as Low Key, except I don't think you'll even be banned. I have never heard of someone being banned for an achievement mod. You'll be fine.
