hiya i actually was surfing around and saw this. I feel like i am the only one around that actually likes them who does research and is a geek on youtube. Anyhow i am at least glad so see someone has done some research on it.
the only problem is the letter, but for me this is not a huge issues if one day i decide I hate them (not likely) I just send them a registered letter and wait.
Anyhow there is something else that I have been noticing that you can deal with. Firstly if you get as far as entering your digital signature you have signed up so dont sign their contract if you dont want to join, but in the application process (as with all networks actually) they ask you to link your channel initially (this is so they can see if you have strikes and other stuff) so then the automated system kicks in. If they forget to cancel that link you will receive emails and such.
Some people claim its an automatic partner, its not you have to sign the contract. So if you didnt sign it then you rejected their terms. You then reject the invite you receive after the fact and then wait a day and check your google account to see who has access to the account. If the system bugged out it didnt cancel its link with you just go in and remove them manually. login to your main google account and go to the area where you have settings and there is an option to see who has permission to see access you automatically and you will see a list. Just remove that link. Beware though this will only release your channel it wont give you back anything else.
Dont fill in your name or sign something you have not read properly ever this goes for anything.
that being said once youtube converts to the onechannel I think most of the issues will be gone. Myself I joined because I like their community and I enjoy their brand of entertainment and I create a series that is geared to that age group. I just wish people were not set on getting rich. FYI that series is not even monetized and never will be. I did not join for money or a banner I joined because I was actually a fan. That is the basic purpose of their network its a community building tool more then anything. Anyone trying to get rich should rethink that a bit if you have under 1k subs and only a handful of views you will not make money no matter what network you join (this is a myth). You would not make money as a straight up youtuber either.
So consider the reasons you are joining this network or any network. If its for financial gain or a banner think again. :/
