Psyonix Vice President Jeremy Dunham says that their work on Rocket League's proposed cross-network play between Playstation 4 and Xbox One is now complete, they said that they could be up and running within a few hours, but they have to wait for Sony's approval on the release.
VP Jeremy Dunham stated
{quote}"we're literally at the point where all we need is the go-ahead on the Sony side and we can, in less than a business day, turn it on and have it up and working no problem. It'd literally take a few hours to propagate throughout the whole world, so really we're just waiting on the permission to do so."{/quote}.
Meaning that, if Sony gives them permission to enable the cross platform between Playstation 4 and Xbox one, they could have all the servers up and running within a few hours.
Back in March Dunham said that they had the cross-platform figured out, but not fully finished. Within weeks of them announcing the Idea of the cross platform play, Microsoft really liked the idea of the cross play and approved it. Ever since then they've been waiting on Sony to approve it. Dunham's view on Sony:
{quote}"It could be tomorrow, it could be longer than that. We just don't know - we're anxiously awaiting that, just like the rest of our fans{/quote}Sony hasn't given him any ideas on when they will or will not approve this.
Jeremy Dunham wants to make clear that he doesn't think Sony is taking their time because they don't want to integrate the cross-platform play. He thinks that Sony is taking their time so that they don't encounter any speed bumps in the process or post-process of the cross-play being released.
Jeremy Dunham's exact words on Sony:
{quote}"Sony's such a big company that I'm sure it takes a while for them to figure out what it is that the roadblocks are, what sort of issues they might run into with other titles, any number of things that I can't even begin to speculate on. We definitely ask them for updates often, and we're still very confident that they're eventually going to open those doors and welcome us in, but we also are really understanding that it's going to take a while especially given all the ramifications of everything. It was just as much of a surprise to them as I think the rest of the world when Microsoft said that they would do it."{/quote}

Both Dunham and the fans of Rocket League hope this feature will be integrated into the game very soon. What do you guys think about this?
