Ten Games Releasing for the PS4 in 2018 and Beyond That Are Worth a Gamers' Attention

By Vince Published 29th Jan 2018

We break down ten of the best games releasing on PS4 in 2018.

2018 is shaping up to be a huge year for gaming, especially for Sony's Playstation 4. God of War... Detroit: Become Human... Days Gone... Spider-Man... Kingdom Hearts 3 just to name a few. If these didn't entice you to at least try out the system, the games listed below might tantalize your gaming taste buds. Without further introduction, here is a list of 10 games to look forward to in 2018!

1) God Of War

Forget about Kratos? After he killed off all the gods in Olympus, he seemed he was destined for a quieter life of retirement. He had moved to another country, settled down and had a child, Atreus. He even grew out his beard and seemed to have taken anger management classes. That seems like it is all about to change in the latest game installment set to release in early 2018. We Atreus and his trusty bow, they seemed destine to wreak havoc to the gods of Norse mythology. Gone are Kratos' old Chaos blade, in comes a new weapon. An axe named Leviathan that can be summoned a bit like Thor's hammer. It's time to get comfy in your gaming chair for this one too as game director Cory Barlog has confirmed that the game will be 25 to 35 hours long. That's only twice the size of the previous games so expect a serious quest for Kratos and Atreus. Oh, and you can't jump...

2) Red Dead Redemption 2

Set as a prequel to Rock Star's hit, Red Dead Redemption, RRD2 is set to release Spring 2018. We already know it'll have a big online mode, similar to GTA Online, and that we'll be following the "story of outlaw Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang as they rob, fight, and steal their way across the vast and rugged heart of America." As open world sandboxes go, Red Dead Redemption 2 looks almost terrifyingly huge. From the glimpses seen in the trailer this is a world of forests, canyons, and sprawling deserts that's going to have you wanting to explore and go where no man has gone before.

3) The Last of Us 2

The sequel from Naughty Dog to the phenomenal The Last of Us which sees you battle fungi-infected zombies in a post-apocalyptic world. A lot of gamers around the world were split as to whether The Last of Us ever needed a sequel in the first place. Of course there was plenty of apocalypse still to tell the story of but did we need to see what Joel and Ellie did next? Well it seems we're about to find out and it's does not look like its going to be pretty. Confirmed to take place partly in Seattle, The Last of Us 2 hasn't revealed much story but plenty of brutal violence as humanity attempts to survive, five years after Joel and Ellie's original outing. In case you hadn't worked it out. Survival isn't easy and empathy looks like it's at an all time low.

4) Days Gone

Another entry to the list is again of the Zombie nature. Zombie games might be a dime a dozen at this point, but Days Gone treats the not-quite-dead a bit differently. Squeezing into lead characters Deacon St. John’s boots, you’re attempting to live out the end of the world on the open road. You have to learn how to manage a swarm of infected nicknamed Freakers - who aren't actually dead - if you want to survive. These disgusting creatures flood through the environment, forcing you to run for your life, pulling down objects in the environment to slow their charge. Look forward to this game coming near end of 2018, beginning of 2019.

5) Marvel's Spider-Man

Coming sometime in 2018, the webhead slings into action in Insomniac's fresh take on the famous web-slinger. It's been some time since we've seen a promising Spider-Man game in the works, but the web-slinger's next title is a PS4 exclusive being created by none other than the Ratchet and Clank developer Insomniac. You can web-sling through the city, rip criminals from their getaway cars, and even skilfully maneuver through interior spaces with the superhuman agility the webhead is known for. There is also a chance that you can play as other characters as well, making this one of the most hyped Spiderman games to come out in the last decade or two!

6) Final Fantasy 7 Remake

After decades of false rumours, developer denials, and harsh trolls, one of the most highly anticipated game remakes has been announced. Sony showed Final Fantasy 7 Remake off at its press conference at back at E3 2015. With a release date that has yet to be announced, gamers everywhere are jonsing at the chance to play as Cloud again since their first go around in 1997. Very few details have been given, but what is known is that it'll be more action based than the original (much to some dismay) and that it'll come out in several installments, which makes sense when you think about just how huge FF7 is and how many discs it first came out on. Get ready to tear up in Aeriths final scene, but in better graphics this time around.

7) Kingdom Hearts 3

Probably one of the most highly anticipated games coming out is Kingdom Hearts 3. Set take place sometime after the events of Kingdom Hearts 2, it is the final installment of the main story line that involves Sora, Donald and Goofy. It is something fans have been waiting for since 2006, and the amount of excitement is starting to grow. There will also be appearances from various Final Fantasy characters as well as Woody and Buzz from Toy Story! KH3 is set to come out in late 2018.

8) Death Stranding

In one of his first games after leaving the Metal Gear series, Hideo Kojima has followed up the classic franchise with a rather frightening debut game from his new formed Kojima Productions. Not much in terms of details has been released about the game, just some a tiny preview of game play which no one can make heads nor tails out of. Regardless, Kojima Productions has our attention.

9) Far Cry 5

This installment to the Far Cry series won't take place in some exotic far-off region like Far Cry 4's Kyrat, or an ancient history setting as in Far Cry Primal - it'll be bringing its first-person mayhem to America. This time around, the fictional region of Hope County, Montana is thrown into utter chaos by a cult known as the Project at Eden's Gate, led by the charismatic Father Joseph who advocates religious fanaticism and militia-style stockpiles of high-powered firearms. As Hope County's newest deputy sheriff, you'll have to band with the townsfolk to take down Eden's Gate in the most chaotic ways possible - including aerial dogfights and bombing runs in a pilotable plane, or vicious takedowns using pitchforks, sledgehammers, or trusty animal companions, to name a few options. Far Cry 5 is set to release in March of 2018.

10) Shadow of the Colossus

Shadow of the Colossus is an iconic title, one of which that originally released back in 2005 for the PlayStation 2. Overall, players take on the role of a young man named Wander who has entered into a forbidden land. Your overall goal in the video game is rather straightforward, players must track down and fight these massive creatures known as Colossi in order to restore the life of a girl named Mono. With a huge following from the 2005 PS2 hit, Shadow of the Colossus will be a must have when it is released later in 2018.

There you have it! There are plenty of other games coming out in 2018 that you for sure want to take a look at and play your way through, but remember to try these first!

I'm really looking forward to RDR2 and obviously Kingdom Hearts 3, but this is a hell of a list for fans of single player gaming for sure

Most definitely. Feel like the gaming world has been missing some great single player games lately.

They need to bring out information on Dead Island 2, to be honest. Either way, KH3 is [robably one of the main ones everyone wants including FF7 Remake
