It was only a matter of time until an amazing breakthrough designed for home-brew would be modified for illegitimate use...

Piracy has made it's way to the PS Vita

So not to long ago, the HENKaku exploit was released, and the Vita scene went wild. Homebrew was now not just a possibility, but a reality, and allowed many awesome custom apps and utilities to be ran on the system. But it didn't take long for the exploit to be used for illegal piracy.

While the yifanlu, a developer of HENKaku, said he didn't support piracy and neither did HENkaku support the features for it, he knew that it wouldn't be long until someone figured out a way to make it work, and he was right. While the method is currently not public, it's more than likely it will be leaked sooner or later, and piracy on the Vita will be a real problem for Sony, however it's currently unknown how DRM-protected games are being decrypted, or if they're being decrypted at all, however a development team by the name of "Team FreeK" has been showing images of their "Vitamin" software that has the ability to dump and decrypt games, however the authenticity of Team FreeK's claims are still unknown.

Piracy is a problem not only for Sony and the game industry as a whole, but also to homebrew enthusiasts. Often, the reason companies such as Sony lock off their products from unsigned code execution is to prevent piracy (understandably), and why homebrew is such a difficult thing to get running. It's worth nothing that NextGenUpdate does not support or condone warez in any way.
