The 3G can be upgraded to 4.1. There never was a 4.0.2 for iPod. Only iPhone.

I'm gonna try the jailbreak when I get home. Will edit this post when i've tried it with the outcome. I've been looking for a jailbreak for a while now so I hope this one works. By the way, is it a tethered or non-tethered jailbreak? Tethered meaning you can't turn off your iDevice otherwise you'll have to run the program again, non-tethered meaning you can turn it off.

It is not tethered, but only for 4.1 as they will patch comex's exploit in the next patch...
yes it can work for 4g as thats what i used on my ipod touch 4g...
for the 2g, sorry but to update your 2g to 4.X and then try to jailbreak there will make you lag so bad... i would look around for something for 2g (googles your friend =D ) but i think they are all currently tethered
