I have recently ''Jail-broken'' my Ipod touch with You must login or register to view this content. , because personally I don't like You must login or register to view this content. , as it froze my ipod and i had to restore it . Well what I'm getting at is the crack in my screen. Yes i have a now HUGE crack in my screen. It started off as a minor crack, but has gradually got bigger over time. It has now got to the point were it is unbearable and looks tacky. And i was wondering were do i get a new screen to? I think i only need the glass, but i am afraid to go to apple, as It's ''Jail broken''. Please someone, could i take it to apple or would i have to buy it on E-bay and somehow fit it my self?

don't bother restoring it, coz apple can still find out if you have jailbroken it in the past..

if you live in the UK, try going to your local high street, and check out one of those asian phone stalls, they should b a ble to fix it
price WILL be pretty hefty though

I'm pretty sure theres no way Apple can tell if in the past your ipod was jailbroken.

Apple cannot tell if the iPod has been jailbroken or not.
All you have to do is do a full restore and you're good to go.

Apple can run tests your iPod to see if it has been jailbroken or not, but that would take lots of work and time. Do you really think Apple has time to sit around and check and see if iPods have been jailbroken or not? Tons of people jailbreak their iPod, why would they waste their time checking?

Also, my friend asked a Best Buy employee if his warranty would be voided if he jailbroke. The employee said yes, but if he was to restore it, no one would know if he jailbroke it or not. He told me this before I jailbroke my iPod, since I had warranty on it.




As for your question, if you have warranty on your iPod - restore your iPod and bring it into Apple to get it fixed/replaced.
If you don't have warranty for it, you will get charged to get it fixed.

OT: I don't think Apple is going to pay any attention to whether the iPod is jailbroken or not. Like someone else stated, tons of people jailbroke their iPod. I'm sure, 90% of the world who bought an iPod has jailbroken it. The other 10% are dumb. So, it wouldn't hurt to go to Apple and restore the glass. Though, you can find a local electronics store where they repair stuff, and simply ask them to repair your glass, no?

I've had my laptop's glass cracked everywhere because it accidentally fell off my lap, so I just went to a nearby electronics store, and got it repaired within a few weeks.

if you d obuy the glass off ebay, make sure you buy it WITH the digitizer, otherwise it is a waste of money because your touch screen wont work. But yes, many phone repair shops will replace the glass for you, and its much cheaper than apple doing the job
