(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hey guys, im in desperate need of help, i just got this iphone 3gs and restored it, well what i did exaclty was, go to settings and they do erase all contents and settings or something like that and now basically it says i need a valid sim and it wont tell me what firmware im running or anything just comes up with no valid sim please put in a valid sim to activate something like that, i dunno where it was original purchase place was because of reasons cba explaining so yeah if you can help me to find out the firmware i can unlock it thanks in advance guys.

Are you using a sim card? Or are you just kinda using it as an ipod? i would hook it up to itunes and install the newest firmware too (4.2.1) that should work, if not ill think a lil harder

im not using it as anything at all atm, it just comes up with please insert valid sim to activate...(along the lines of that) thats when i plug it into itunes aswell i get that message but if i could update to 4.2.1 then i could jailbreak and unlock then eventually maybe get a sim and restore it again, but if you can help me out that would be ****ing amazing plus rep for you now anyway just for that haha

Just put it into DFU Mode, or Recovery Mode, and restore from there.

I dont have an iphone, i have an ipod touch 4g, but the jailbreaking process is the same. I know there was a way to activate it without sim card, but that was a bug that was fixed some time ago. Do you have any idea what firmware its running atm?
And is this what its giving you? If it is clicky link in sig and just jailbreak, should work =D

oh dear this is the first time i have been to the idevice section and seriously you dont know what a valid sim is??? also if you want to unlock DO NOT CONNECT TO ITUNES AND UPDATE THROUGH THAT IT WILL UPDATE YOUR BASEBAND WHICH AT THIS TIME IS NOT UNLOCKABLE!! (if you are on 4.0 or lower)
To fix your 3gs you need to put in a valid sim card and then plug into itunes. if you dont have one and just want it as an ipod download sn0wbreeze and hacktivate it.
if your a absolute n00b google "Sn0wbreeze" this is a dev-team tool which will preserve your baseband but update your phone and jailbreak it and hactivate!!!!!!!!!! Me vs IOS 4.2.1 :dingding:
