Post: Jailbreak ipod touch 2g MC 4.2.1 without power button

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I have a problem. I have been trying to jailbreak my ipod (as stated above), but am having trouble doing it since I cant use the power button. But I also have a bigger problem. I tried following the lead of a certain website telling people how to send ipods into DFU mode, and attempted to restore my ipod. However, I did not wait for the error message as it told me to and opened greenpois0n. This closed itunes and halted the recovery process. And greenpois0n didnt even work. Now my ipod is stuck with an apple logo and an empty loading bar underneath. Nothing has happened for perhaps half an hour. I unplugged it because itunes nor my computer even recognized it. What should I do? And I apologize for the long explanation. Also, if anyone needs to know, I have a Windows 7 computer. Thanks!

I tried it. I 'repaired' iTunes instead of removing it, then I restarted the computer, but no success My ipod is still the same, no recognition by the itunes or the computer. I think I may just have to sell it to apple and hope for a discount off of a new one. Thanks for trying!

Little One
uninstall and install a fresh itunes, then try a different USB port on your computer

Okay, I'll try. It just so happens that my brother is coming over, so he is going to bring his laptop. I'll try, and thanks for the idea! (I'm also hoping that letting it die out and hooking it up then while holding the home button will work, but that may take a while).

Nope, didnt work. I'll just have to wait for it to die. Could be a while, though. Thanks for the idea!

No problem, we are going to figure this out! Yhea that idea have worked once for me also, but that was with an 80GB iPod classic, but surely it can work with your iPod touch! Just keep trying new ideas!

How long should it take? Since it is not really in stand-by mode, it shouldn't take the 300 hours it boasts, but hopefully it should take more like one day. I left wifi on before this happened, will that help I wonder? Ach, this is kinda nerve-racking. Thanks for helping out so much already! Now we know what DOESN'T work!

Mine was almost dead when it happened to me, but I guess it will take quite some time due to nothing happening on it, I don't think the wifi will help :/ No problem mate, thats what NGU is for in my opinion! Smile

Yeah, this morning it was dead, so here I am trying to fix it. I held in the home button while I plugged it in, so it showed the connect to itunes screen. I am trying to get it out by doing the same thing with the home button (it has worked before), but so far no luck. I think I will just have to restore it. No jailbreak for me! But it's progress! Do you know how to get it out of recovery mode, or is my ipod just deleted?

I think I will just restore it, at least then I can use it! Again, thanks for your help!
