Post: iPhone 5 Display Size Compared Against Huge Android Smartphones

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The announcement of the iPhone 5 is still the hot topic in the smartphone industry. One of its most notable features is the increase in the size of the screen, from 3.5 to 4-inches. It raises the question if the larger screen will make the device harder to use and operate in one hand.

Apple seemed settled on the 3.5-inch screen size, however the iPhone 5 announcement suggests a change in thinking. Reddit user pic10F206 has created an image You must login or register to view this content. the iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, Galaxy S, Galaxy S II, Xperia Arc S, and the Galaxy Nexus smartphones. The display area of the iPhone 5 is placed over the top of its larger competitors.

For portable, handheld devices, the current generation of Android devices are extremely large. Sure, the larger screen has its benefits, such as a better movie and gaming experience. However, the large screen makes operating the device in one hand a nightmare: constantly having to re-adjust your grip so your thumb can reach the entire screen.

With that being said, the iPhone 5's screen size has been increased and some technology enthusiasts came to the immediate conclusion that the device would be uncomfortable to use. It will still be smaller than its Android competitors and I am predicting a comfortable experience. Potential iPhone 5 buyers can rest assured, knowing Apple always is aiming for the best possible experience for fans. The decision to increase the screen size would have been thoroughly tested and evaluated, before being approved.

Galaxy S3 is plastic piece of sh*t. Hardware doesn't matter unless it's the same OS, Android is a POWER and battery hog regardless of the widgets and live wallpapers on.

Saying the S3 is a piece of shit doesn't prove anything. It's statiscally and noticeably better than the iPhone in specs. That alone should negate the fact that according to you, "Android doesn't run smoothly on it's phones". The S3 is as fast, if not faster than the iPhone 5 and that's a fact.

Smartphones these days have terrible batteries. Naturally, you would assume Android phones will have a higher battery consumption, which it probably does, but don't forget the 4Ss battery was shit as well. If the iPhone 5's battery is as good as apple boasts it to be, then I'll be impressed. But I somehow doubt the fact that a larger screen will be able to support 8 hours of 3G/4G browsing.

The S3 is cr*p, 4S battery can get you through out the day doing anything you want on the iPhone. Samsuck say S3 can get upto 32 days standby battery life, AS IF. Android is a rushed POS to compete with the iPhone. S3 is for douchebags who think CPU and GPU is all that matters. Samsuck can't make software and hardware to work.

I play games, surf thew web, listen music and view my uni notes on my iPhone from 9AM to 6PM and I still have 50% battery left, awesome battery, an Android would die out unless you get one of those stupid apps that turn 99% of the things of that make it a smartphone, the fact S3 uses have to turn 3G of is hilarious.

Please get statistical evidence before making an argument. You're making yourself sound silly: "Samsung is lying. If you think good specs are what you should look for in a phone, you're a douchebag (if it's not Apple it's obviously not worthy). My own personal experience with the iPhone battery has been amazing, even though a lot of other users are having battery issues, it doesn't really matter because my phone is all that matters".

Very persuasive no?

Here's some actual evidence: unbiased, and a trustworthy source.

Can’t trickshot me!
for all you people dissing the iphone 5... people dont get an iphone because its a nice phone. they get it because its an iphone for christs sake. the iphone sets its self off from any other phone on the market. it is not like any other phone and that is why people want it. people arent thinking "oh well the GSIII has a bigger screen and has slightly more ram and a slightly faster processor so ill just get that." no, they want the new iphone because it makes any other phone look like a piece of shit with its crappy android os. you also cant jailbreak any other phone and i dont care what anyone says but jailbreaking makes the iphone what it really is and it has so many more capabilities than any other phone after that. yes you can root android but for what, barely anything to change... the iphone upgrades are small but those little changes make a lot of difference when you break it down. i was a little dissapounted when the 4s came out and only had 512mb of ram. so i would seriously upgrade to the 5 just because of the 1gb change. that change is all it needs. the reason they dont do big upgrades is because it is really hard to fix perfection....

LOL. You don't have to root an Android Phone to have exactly the same capabillity's as a Jailbroken iPhone.
So glad I switched to Samsung's Note, coming from an iPhone3G.

iOS have better jailbroken apps developers. I can say that in this jailbreak/root thing I can say iOS have lot more "well" done apps/tweaks. About developers I can easily tell you about Ryan Petrich and chpwn on iOS but if I look onto Android I don't remember any name. :\

I just want to discuss abut something different now because this "fight" is turning to the upcoming end. tears

The developers develop different things for the different OSs. On iOS, they focus on more on tweaks and mods (SBsettings, Winterboard, etc.) that add new features and improve appearance. However, on Android, developers focus on increasing speed and performance with the use of Roms and kernels, something the iOS doesn't not have. Reason why no tweaks and apps are developed is well, because Android is already so customizable there really isn't a point. CyanogenMod, AOKP and MIUI are just some of the big names in Android.

But in terms of the development of store apps, the iOS definitely blows Android out of the water.
