But it's jailbroke, so im going to update it and this should be fine then with my warrenty. However i see stories of people saying apple can tell and stuff but I'm sure they can't, just want to ask if anyone has had a similar problem and restored/updated to remove their Jailbreak then being serviced fine.

Also I spoke to Pixie about this in the shoutbox yesterday, he said it was fine as he had a similar thing but i just wanted to ask. I also dont know what they will do as the 3GS is no longer being sold, if they dont have any in stock would they give me a 4/4s at a reduced price or something?

I've updated mine after jailbroken and they served me.

They can't tell if you've jailbroken it. It's like restoring the phone to a brand new one. Restore it before hand if you're still too cautious. :y:

Im on 5.1.1 atm and plan on updating before i go, as far as i can tell its like formatting a HDD you cant tell whats been on it cause its gone. But im just wondering, better safe than sorry

Yea im sure they will give you an option to get a 4/4s for a reduced price if you want, or they might have 3gs that work fine that other people have exchanged for something else.

if they have a pre-owned 3gs i'd rather pay a bit for the 4/4s really, hopefully they ahve no 3gs and have to give me something as its still in warranty

Yeah. You'll be fine. Defintely update to iOS 6. Also, you have a 3GS. Lol...The iPhone 4 is free right now with a 2 year contract. If you don't like contracts, Apple would probably reduce the face price of the phone, or ask for a trade in from your 3GS, and maybe get $100 off...

Yea, or they might just be able to fix your phone in the back real quick. It could be just a bad vibrator.

Im only 16 as well, the 3gs was £20 a month for 5000 texts 1GB web and 500 minutes, good deal and its been a good phone to me apart from the vibarting not working anymore.

The 3GS isnt on the apple site anymore and i heard when the 5 was released they sold loads of the left over 3gs models cheap so if they have non I will expect something as i have a warranty up until 24th december this year for repairs and service, and i dont want to send it off

They CAN see it actually, however I HIGHLY doubt they will check. Formatting the flash drive is not the same thing as writing 0's to each individual part of it. The data is really still there, but I can't go through and explain it all.

And please note that the "checking" that I'm talking about it not the checking that they will do in the store. To find this data it would take a very long time. You would have to do a lot of work to find it. It would be similar to recovering things on a SSD (which is very difficult due to TRIM)

So you're safe. I wouldn't worry at all about it, but I thought you should just know :p
