(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Just thought I'd post a nice discussion here. I'm not going to talk about any other products except Apple here, please don't start fanboy wars.

Since I'm a little bored I thought I would ask the lot of you who enjoy the use of Apple products whether you think Apple is going downhill or not?

My initial response to this is, yes. I feel that Apple has lost a lot of ground in the market share of everything really. They are loosing laptop market share, iPhone market share and tablet market share. iPods are probably the lease affected if you ask me, since there aren't any good portable music devices similar to them, so I will give Apple that.

My next complaint with Apple is that they have been living in the past for quite some time unfortunately. They have not pushed any sort of new iOS features that even compare to the competition. (Not naming any names, please) I feel that Apple needs a huge iOS overhaul or else Apple will cease to exist sooner than later. I get that Apple has had the approach "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" but I feel like this only goes so far. I'm not using a 1984 Macintosh just because "it works".

I feel that Apple needs to change it's ways, and start to make iOS in general, better.

Feel free to agree/disagree down below, just make sure you don't start a fanboy war Winky Winky

Please try to keep this a friendly discussion.

I dont think Apple is going down hill,

iOS does need a relift but i still think its fine how it is

There laptops are amazing prob the best that is on the market tbh.

iPads are great i dont see what they can do to them to make them new i think them have got it as thin as they can, so what else can they do apart from making it faster. Just like Tim Cook said " We can only go great things a few times, Only on a few products"

Apple dying since SJ Died.. Cant really be a yes or no question, SJ said to Tim Cook "what ever happens dont ask what he would have done"

As for the next big thing from Apple, Going to say its going to be a TV, By the looks of Tim at this point in this video it seems like its a TV 17.55 in the video..

Apple ios is far more stable than anything I've ever owned. It's been the same damn thing for a very long time, yeah, but I still get dumbfounded by its flawless ness even now as I type on my iPad. Maybe that's what sets it apart from everyone else? As my wife says, who will own nothing but an android device, "Apple is successful because of one reason. I has a massive faithful fan base." True. I will own ONLY iPhones with cell phone technology. I've had all kinds of android devices. Got rid of my iOS 3GS phone for an HTC once, and never again. Then went to droid, never again. Once I came back to the iPhone, I realized, this is MY phone. We're all different and we all like certain things. Apple will never plunder. That I am certain of.

So if you're a Samsung tablet fan, or an iPad mini fan, or even a Sony MP3 player fan, we as humans like different things. Each one has its flaws. Nothing is perfect. Smile

The new guy at Apple runs things differently. I don't know if anyone else has noticed but back when Jobs was running the PR show, they would only have the newest devices on the market. Apple would recall all of the unsold ones and they would just disappear. Within recent times we now have multiple generations of iPhones, iPads and the lot to choose from.

Another change that I have noticed with Apple is that not everything is as polished as they used to be. Jobs didn't let a thing leave the company until it was perfected. The company now just puts out like a whore. Of money.

I cannot see apple being as innovative as they used to now that Jobs is out of the picture. Although he wasn't the one who actually made any of the products, he was the visionary that came up with the ideas years in advance. I remember somewhere reading about Jobs talking about a TV being set as a project in the far future. I don't know how apple is going to go above and beyond making a computer although I can guess it will be something similar to an iMac. After they release the long awaited TV. I wonder if Apple will just run out of steam and stop having such incredible products.

I remember years ago, Jobs was fired from Apple because the stock holders did not see him as a worthwhile investment. Then the company started to tank until they rehired him again. Hats off to such an amazing PR guy. He really knew how to sell a product.

Regardless of where I think the company is headed in the long run, I think that for the short run of 1-3years they are going to continue to grow bigger and bigger. I also think that as a percentage of the market they will shrink just because of the shear number of competitors that they have.

Here's hoping that they atleast keep their ethics towards us, the consumers!

you lot are complaining about IOS let me put it this way.. Think how much windows has changed since windows 97.. it has been improved upon, becoming more stable in each update. Think how many years it has taken for them to completely change it to a new GUI like windows 8?

i am certainly not complaining, iOS is the best OS on the market. It may be requiring a face lift soon, but nothing major.. The products they produce are insanely good, i can say that from good standing ( proud owner of iMac, iPad, iPhone, iPod ). I Can't think of any other company that has produced products of this caliber to such a wide audience. I mean, come on.. Name another company who have such high stats on Laptop, Phone & tablet sales? :p. The iDevices all work perfectly and are so easily syncable now thanks to iTunes cloud storage.. imo Apple are miles ahead of the competition!

I can understand what you mean, however I'm really talking about this on a numbers level. There is no doubt a very popular basis on which their products are made for, however their future is uncertain. Just about a month ago Apple slid about 4 percent (which is like 50 billion) in a single day and investors are becoming more and more uneasy about the company as a whole. They still haven't quite recovered and are still having very bad days when it comes to their stocks.

Well that is an awfully bold statement, and yes to be fair I know that there is context to this quote.

I don't know how you can really say that for certain, Apple has been sliding down a slippery slope for a few months now really. I mean they have released all of their new products for 2012/2013 and they are still not making as much profit as they used to. They have also lost a HUGE amount of market share. Android is now above 72% of the mobile market, and growing.

Apple is also about to post it's first profit decline in the last 9 years. People everywhere are reporting that Apple's profits have already peaked, indicating that it might be downhill from here. Now of course for Apple this would be a very slow and graceful fall from grace, however nevertheless none of the numbers are lying. Just look at what has happened to Microsoft, they were the Titanic of the tech industry, and they too have plummeted. Nevertheless, they are still around and kicking, however they are nowhere near where they used to be.

Oh boy is this unfortunately true. I remember how proud I was when I owned my iPhone 4. Sitting there in all of it's glory, saying how "Nothing could ever part me from this perfection." I'm probably being a tad overdramatic when I'm saying this, but I still really do love Apple. With the rushed production of the iPhone 5S and the rushed production of Apple Maps, I began to worry about Apple loosing its touch. I think that the iPhone 6 will be something huge, it's really why I think they're rushing 5S sales to milk the market because they know that Johnny Ive is going to tear away the boring iOS look and put it back with the competition. I really hope that Apple continues to live, and thrive in the ecosystem. However I do feel that Apple really needs to stop suing left and right and deal with competition the proper way, making a product that is better.

Apple would never do that, and I don't blame them at all. Owning a Macintosh is a completely different experience. With a Macintosh, everything is beautifully made; the aluminum unibody, the beautiful glossy screen and outstanding battery life. Oh and for the love of God don't forget that outstanding trackpad. The outstanding OS. It comes as a surprise to most people who know me when I say that the only laptop I will ever own will be one made from Apple.

Windows 8 was made from WP7. I can understand what you mean, however Windows is completely different. Windows is an operating system that has to work for every PC on the planet. It has to be compatible with thousands upon thousands of different hardware combinations and it has to work 99.9999999999999% of the time. There is very little room for failure. That's why you see when an OS is rushed (Vista) it does not work properly. It took Microsoft 5 years to make Vista, and they still couldn't get it right. iOS is very light, and very small compared to what Microsoft has to deal with. It doesn't take long to add widgets to a homescreen or to redesign the notification center. I think they could release an update in a matter of days when it comes to these things.

Okay, I think I'm going to have a tough time convincing you Winky Winky

No but honestly, if it works for you it works for you. I can understand why you enjoy iOS as I once did. The problem for me was that I want to feel like I am in control of what I buy. I was sick and tired of looking at boring old rows of icons. I wanted a different theme for each day of the week. I wanted to not have to turn my phone on to see if I got a notification. I wanted the ability to remove my battery and replace it so that I could have literally unlimited time of usage on long flights. I wanted the choice of using an unlimited amount of SD cards on my phone to watch movies and consume more content. I wanted a huge display so I could easily read text and watch great HD videos on it. It's obvious that our priorities are different from one another, and if you are happy, then it doesn't matter.
