With the release of iOS 6.1 we have now learned jailbreaking is possible on iOS 6.1. The jailbreak for 6.1 will be able to jailbreak all devices including iPhone 5, all iPads, and Apple TV 2 (NOT 3rd generation).
With iOS 6.1 brought some new minor features. The main feature is that it brings LTE support to more iPhone and iPad carriers. You can also now buy movie tickets through Siri (US Only), and the option returned to download individual songs from iCloud.
New privacy settings have been included as well like the option to reset Apple's advertising identifier option, a "non-permanent, non-personal, device identifier".
A new music playback control has also been added to the lock screen, and a back end change in Apple's mapping software.
That's all for iOS 6.1, so now onto the good stuff!
The evad3rs iOS jailbreak team tested all of their exploits on the public release of iOS 6.1 and according to @planetbeing (on twitter) the exploits work, but some testing remains.
