You can also do this to skip a place or two but you have to have the right timing. Also, you can EMP the perk machines to take them out for awhile and destroy drops like max ammo, 2x, etc. It's handy if you want to piss off your teammates.

Locked my self in the bus, threw about 5 emps at him and he ended up locking me inside.
Wasn't a good thing because i was the last one alive on round 33 =[

Yes if a team mate is using it you can throw a emp and it will close. It doesn't give the person there points back also.
