I got the error code "80029563" which is different to the one in the vid (8001003Cool Man (aka Tustin)
Searching around the net I found that:
-->80010038 is the code for corrupted installation data
-->80029563 is a code that usually occurs during PSN downloads and is believed to be caused by the ISP

So, my connection was in local (I believe) but I have a funny set up:
    PC--ethernet-->Router--wirelesss-->Laptop--PS3proxy-->PS3

I removed the cable from the modem to the router so I had no internet, but still had file sharing across the network (which is why I think it was in local mode). So my problem originated from the ISP and the fact that I didn't have one because I had no internet. Which means that in any circumstance means that putting your network in local mode won't work. (Unless my network wasn't in local mode in which case I need some help on how to set it like that)

Kill_streak I think your problem comes from "incorrectly" editing the patch in hex. Now the reason I say "incorrectly" in quotation marks is because the more I think about it, the less reasonable it seems that by editing the numbers dezired stated in his (non-prem)tutorial will enable you to hack the patch. What I'm trying to say is that the original tutorial contains false code which conflicts with the patch authentication and therefore gives you the error. So, I think that the problem lies in how we hex edit the patch and not how we reinstall it to the PS3.

If that makes sense to anyone :p

Na shaun92 the patch was downloade in it's original state i have not edited it yet,the reason i want to make sure that the error is not coming from the edit it self.I also tried a map pack file wich i downloaded and it also failed during proxy it uploads but wont install.but i don,t think the way we are both using proxy is the problem because we both manage to get the file to download to the ps3 i think there might be a final file that gets downloaded aftre we download the patch (you know like a key to open a door) this perhaps opens a hole which will in return allow the install to continue. Now only if we can find that key.

Oh, I completely didn't read that your patch was unedited, my bad :P
However, that is actually a good thing because you're right- if an unedited patch won't even install it seems only logical that there's an extra authentication step somewhere after it connects to download the patch. Either that or being connected to the internet does affect installation because the PS3 tries to download the patch from two separate locations and gets confused. A good idea would be to delete the patch and go through the normal installation process (from the official server) and check the route it takes on PS3proxy to see if any other steps occur that could cause the error.

But what would be REALLY helpful is for someone who has got this to work (because there are people out there who have claimed to) to offer their advice on how they did it Smile

But we'll figure it out somehow, either that or we'll figure out it never realy worked in the first place :P

We'll find a way! Smile
I suppose another option would be to turn off the internet and just before you install the patch and then quickly plug it in as it starts downloading from the proxy. I've read that's how people with wired connections do it. But it'd be kind of hard doing it wirelessly :P

And I'd definitely like to see video evidence, maybe even a video tutorial. But I'll keep trying regardless and we'll crack it soon Winky Winky

That's good news man, can't wait for it Smile
And yeah, you could start a new thread and call it something like "Hacking the hotfix via PS3 proxy" (<---dunno bout that one :p) and use the vid as a starting point to prove the unedited patch can be reinstalled and people will be able to follow it and make new developments from there.

But seriously, awesome work so far, I think you'll soon have it cracked and you have my help and support Smile

Do a barrel roll!
I can install the 1.3 patch from my laptop using ps3 proxy gui with no problems at all. The hacked patch however, downloads from the laptop but does not install.

If anyone knows the correct hex codes you must change in order for the hacked patch to work then PM me. I have ps3 proxy fully working
